Worship

worshipOur Sunday morning worship service is a centerpiece of our sense of community here at Bridgeport Christian Church. We gather as a church family each Sunday at 11:00 a.m. While the format is fluid and open to change, a typical Sunday service will include a time of sharing the joys and concerns of our members, congregational singing, both silent and spoken prayers, a musical worship experience led by our Chancel Choir, a Children's Moment and a full sermon by our pastor, Keith McAliley. What is ALWAYS included in our worship service is the celebration of Communion. Each Sunday we remember the Lord's Supper by sharing in a Communion service that is open to all believers. This practice of serving open Communion is a hallmark of our denomination, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ.)

Our children join us for the beginning of each Sunday morning worship service. After they share in their own Children's Moment, children ages K-4th grade are invited to join Reva Beagle for Children's Church. A Nursery is available for younger children. Our Children's Church tries to give the children their own worship experience, using the regular Worship service model, adjusted to suit their needs. On a typical Sunday the children will share in an opening prayer and a hymn of praise, followed by a time for lifting up prayer concerns. Communion is shared by those children who have been baptized. A Bible study follows, and the worship experience ends with a snack and discussion time. Prayer is an important part of the Children's Church program, which is considered to be the thread that ties the entire experience together. The Children's Church program sponsors the Food Pantry program, giving our children an opportunity to share in community outreach.
